Alliance for Trade Enforcement Commends Confirmation of Katherine Tai as U.S. Trade Representative
WASHINGTON (March 17) — Today, Alliance for Trade Enforcement Executive Director Brian Pomper released the following statement regarding the confirmation of Katherine Tai as U.S. Trade Representative:
“The Alliance for Trade Enforcement congratulates Katherine Tai on her confirmation as U.S. Trade Representative and looks forward to working with her and the rest of the USTR team to end unfair foreign trade practices that harm American workers and companies.
“AFTE has already outlined several ways the Biden administration can hold our international trading partners accountable in comments submitted for the 2021 National Trade Estimate and Special 301 Reports, as well as in a memo sent to the Biden-Harris transition team. Publishing strategies and timelines to bring Korea and Canada into full compliance with the United States-Korea Free Trade Agreement and United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, respectively, and tripling the Trade Enforcement Trust Fund over the next four years are among AFTE’s top recommendations.
“Amid one of the most challenging times in our nation’s history, Ambassador Tai has a unique opportunity to boost the U.S. economy and create jobs by holding our nation’s trading partners to the commitments they’ve made. AFTE is eager to help Ambassador Tai and her team do just that.”
About the Alliance for Trade Enforcement: The Alliance for Trade Enforcement is a coalition of trade associations and business groups that advocates for foreign governments to end unfair trade practices that harm U.S. innovative industries and supports U.S. policymakers in their efforts to hold our trading partners accountable.
